Summary

The International Pipeline and BD&L TA Lead is accountable for delivering and embedding a deep and insightful International TA perspective on all TA pipeline (pre-FDP transition), BD&L and strategy assessments. As the first TA point of contact for all pipeline and BD&L projects originating from the TA Head / TAL / C&BD team, the Pipeline & BD&L TA Lead is responsible for establishing transparent and informative communication flows with Top3 NPP teams as well as the broader TA community and functional partners (e.g., Insights, V&A). The Lead will be a consistent and high-impact spokesperson for the TA in key forums, such as IMB, TAL, ECN and International Leadership forums and will partner with NPP Heads in Top 3 International Markets as well as key functional partners to ensure we are delivering on our ambition in the TA to shape a valuable future portfolio for our top markets. The Pipeline and BD&L TA Lead will bring to life our International pipeline and BD&L input framework and ecosystem as established by the Hub, to ensure we can consistently deliver high impact International Pipeline and BD&L assessments at the TA level. This will require partnership and collaboration with both the Hub as well as Pipeline and BD&L TA leads in other TAs to take a continuous improvement mindset. As well as directly inputting to select assessments, the TA Lead is accountable to deploy, lead, guide and challenge the cross-functional teams working on additional pipeline and BD&L assessments to ensure that we are continually up-skilling, learning, and elevating the performance of the teams. Where key capability gaps exist, the TA Lead will work with the Hub Lead to develop appropriate solutions.

About the Role

Major accountabilities

  • Accountable of delivery for all TA pipeline (pre-FDP transition) and BD&L activities through:
  • Direct commercial input for select pipeline / BD&L assessments and strategy development as part of cross-functional pipeline, strategy, or BD&L assessment team(s).
  • Leadership and guidance to TA cross-functional teams working on additional assessments, to pressure test and sense check recommendations, as well as problem solve or coach through challenges.
  • Partnership with the Pipeline & BD&L hub to ensure that all TA activities are consistent with recommended International processes and governance, and that there is a continual dialogue on TA capacity, capabilities and challenges so that solutions can be developed.
  • Partnership with NPP heads in Top3 International markets to create transparency on required TA pipeline & BD&L activities, as well as to pressure test, and synthesize Top3 market inputs prior to sharing with TAS teams or TA Head.
  • Partnership with the TA Head to ensure activities are in line with TA and International priorities as outlined by the TAL or senior International leadership.
  • Strong relationship with US TA to ensure that commonalities can be maximized, and differences can be elevated for appropriate discussion.

Elevate our ability to input into pipeline and BD&L over time

  • Identify capability gaps across International teams and implement targeted tactics and upskilling activities to address them.
  • Partner with Hub and other TA Pipeline and BD&L leads to enable transparency and sharing of learnings that can be leveraged across International markets and assets, to drive continuous improvement and consistent input to assets and BD&L projects.

Key Performance Indicators 

  • Feedback from TA Head / TAL / International leaders on improvement of quality of input on pipeline and BD&L projects.
  • Feedback from Top3 NPP heads on improvement in transparency and level of partnership.
  • Delivery of pipeline and BD&L activities in accordance with Hub guidance and framewore

Requirements

  • Minimum: Master’s Degree

    Desirable: MBA, Ph.D., M.D. or RPh 
  • Existing expertise in Oncology
  • 15+ years of commercial experience in a pharmaceutical, biotech, healthcare or consulting environment, including deep (5+ years) experience in:
  • New Product Planning / pipeline strategy (including early programs, IDPA / TDP).
  • Leading commercial input to BD&L business case assessments for pipeline or marketed assets.
  • Indication or disease area strategy development (i.e. has held strategic accountabilities beyond the individual asset level).
  • Strong technical understanding of the asset development process, including direct experience influencing GPTs and GPHs to shape a CDP for TDP and FDP (Lead will not be a member of Early GPTs in accordance with the Enterprise operating model, needs to have a strong familiarity with how they operate to provide the most valuable and relevant International input to TAS leads).
  • Significant (3+ years) experience working either with or within International Top3 market(s) on pipeline or BD&L assessments.
  • Strong cross functional leadership, effectively work in matrix balancing cross-functional perspectives and alignment with business priorities across multiple stakeholders.
  • Able to establish credibility and influence across a range of diverse stakeholders in a matrix organization to drive change.
  • Entrepreneurial and growth mindset.
  • Able to learn quickly and adapt in a complex environment, apply learning and remain resilient; know how to navigate the matrix to drive change.
  • Able to translate strategy into flawless execution and drive consistency; able to link interdependencies in the portfolio.
  • Essential: Fluent written and spoken English

Preferred:

  • Experience across multiple functions including Commercial, Insights & Analytics, Market Access.
