Summary

Novartis' Biomedical Research division is our Innovation engine. Within our Oncology and Radioligand Therapy labs we have bold objectives to transform the lives of millions of people affected by cancer. Applications are invited for a Research Scientist Level Scientific Coordinator to carry out cutting-edge oncology drug discovery pharmacology research. We seek an experienced, motivated and ambitious individual with a passion for in vivo oncology research. The position is based at the Novartis Campus in Basel, Switzerland. The successful candidate exhibits strong management skills, a collaborative team spirit, excellent communication skills and willingness to pro-actively interact across the global organization.

About the Role

Responsibilities to include but are not limited to:

  • Act as a contact person for administrative and organizational tasks of the Lab heads and the in vivo team.

  • Identify and address day-to-day challenges within the laboratory.

  • Collaborate with researchers, technicians, and other members of the lab

  • Write and maintain accurate animal licenses in accordance with legal requirements and ethical guidelines.

  • Liaise with animal welfare organizations to coordinate animal care and support their initiatives.

  • Contribute to the preparation and review of scientific research reports, papers, and presentations.

  • Closely work with multiple teams across expertise groups within Oncology

What you will bring to the role:

  • Qualified Lab Technician (apprenticeship/vocational training), BSc or MSc in biology, biochemistry, bioengineering, biotechnology, pharmacology or related field. Please note that for this position we do not require a PhD qualified candidate at this time.

  • At least 5 years of proficiency and hands-on experience with rodent handling, including oncology models.

  • Practical work experience in biomedical research from an industry or academic laboratory

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English

  • Highly collaborative and self-motivated team player

  • Excellent organizational and communication skills

  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.

  • Demonstrates organizational and time management abilities to handle multiple tasks efficiently.

  • LTK 1 or equivalent (LTK2 preferred)

  • A proactive, problem-solving attitude
