Novartis Oncology Biotherapeutics is seeking a passionate Scientist to advance biotherapeutic drug discovery for cancer. About the Role
Key Responsibilities:
• Design and conduct in vitro assays to screen candidate immune cell-engaging (ICE) antibodies or biologics
• Analyze and interpret data to advance projects through the discovery pipeline.
• Explore and validate new drug targets
• Utilize automation and high-throughput systems for large-scale ICE antibody screening
• Document experimental results in electronic lab notebooks
• Present research findings in internal and external meetings
• Solve complex problems and optimize procedures to meet team goals
The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between: Research Scientist II: $84,000- $126,000 / year | Senior Scientist I: $92,800 - $139,200 / year; however, while salary ranges are effective from 1/1/24 through 12/31/24, fluctuations in the job market may necessitate adjustments to pay ranges during this period. Further, final pay determinations will depend on various factors, including, but not limited to geographical location, experience level, knowledge, skills and abilities. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a sign-on bonus, restricted stock units, and discretionary awards in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment. If hired, employee will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.

Essential Requirements:
- This position will be located at the Cambridge, MA site and will not have the ability to be located remotely. This position will not require travel as defined by the business (domestic and/ or international). Novartis is unable to offer relocation support for this role. - Research Scientist II should have a bachelor's degree with 2-3 years of experience (industry or academia) or master's degree with 0-1 years (industry or academia) in cancer immunotherapy, cancer biology, molecular biology, or related fields
- Senior Scientist I should have a bachelor’s degree with 3-4 years (industry or academia) or master’s degree with 1-2 years (industry or academia) in cancer immunotherapy, cancer biology, molecular biology, or related fields
- Strong knowledge of immuno-oncology, immunology, or cell or molecular biology
- Hands-on experience with immune cell isolation, in vitro cell assays, and molecular techniques (e.g., cell line generation, MSD, RT-qPCR, lentiviral transduction, cell culture)
- Proficient in functional immune cell assays, including proliferation, phenotype profiling, cytokine profiling, or cytotoxicity assays
- Excellent documentation, data analysis, and presentation skills.
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities
Desirable Requirements:
- Industry experience in antibody or biologics drug discovery
- Experience with high-throughput instruments and multi-color flow cytometry
- Skills in lentiviral transduction and western blotting
- Experience with immune cell culture and assays
