24 months in Chemical and Analytical Development (CHAD) through our Early Talent Program (ETP)! We look for a recent PhD to support and expand the development of mixed modalities across the organization.

About the Role

This program offers insights into various drug development areas, putting focus on applied peptide chemistry within a pharmaceutical context. Rotations within CHAD Basel, including synthetic labs and the manufacturing pilot plant, offer a comprehensive view of transforming research ideas into market-ready drugs. You will learn current standards in safety, quality, training systems, and GMP, while transferring theoretical knowledge into practice and developing soft skills and internal networks for a future career in the pharmaceutical industry.

Key responsibilities:

  • Design, plan, perform, interpret, report, and communicate experiments, their data and results
  • Evaluate and implement future manufacturing processes and strategies for oligonucleotides
  • Support process development activities on innovative and cross-functional projects
  • Collaborate closely with our internal and external partners to ensure timely and quality GMP and non-GMP manufacture
  • Provide relevant process documentation in support of filing of dossiers
  • Participate in scientific exchange groups within and outside of Novartis as well as maintain excellent collaborations with our customers

Essential requirements:

  • A completed PhD in organic chemistry or related discipline with specialization in the field of oligonucleotide synthesis
  • Good knowledge of English (oral and written)
  • Hands on experience in the synthesis of oligonucleotides
  • An excellent track record of original research and extensive experience in oligonucleotide chemistry
  • General knowledges in purification and characterization of oligonucleotides are expected
  • Good knowledge of software and computer tools (e.g., MS Office)
  • Scientific curiosity coupled with an international outlook
  • Track record on strong interpersonal and communication skills is required

Desirable requirements:

Additional German proficiency (oral and written) is a plus
