About the role:
200+ compounds in Novartis are supported by biostatisticians in 10+ sites around the globe. Biostatisticians transform clinical data into analyses that build the basis for making innovative drugs accessible for patients. They influence decision-making in cross-functional international teams from early to late phase drug development.
In this role, you will serve as Global Group Head Biostatistics in the renal disease area in the Cardio Renal Metabolic development unit. As a quantitative leader, you foster the vision of being an agile and innovative, technologically advanced and strategic partner in drug development, influencing clinical development strategy/ trial design and cultivating an exploratory mindset utilizing effective visualizations.
About the Role
Your Key Responsibilities:
- As disease/ therapy area leader you will foster effective quantitative support with scientific innovation and regulatory rigor across projects in the disease area and facilitate the seamless transition of projects from early to late phase development
- As inspirational people leader of up to 20 Biostatisticians you will support associates to be their best, with targeted hiring, assignment, development and retention
- As line function builder you will define and lead functional initiatives and facilitate knowledge sharing
- As role model collaborator you will build connections with other cross-functional leaders at the portfolio and disease area level, as well as externally across industry and with regulators
- As partner to senior clinical and scientific leadership, you will drive strategic statistical input to and excellence in drug development in CRM
- As representative of the biostatistics function, you will attend internal and external decision boards

Role Requirements:
- Master’s Degree in Statistics or equivalent, and 14+ years relevant work experience or PhD and 10+ years relevant work experience.
- Ability to influence decision making through the development of innovative options and use of quantitative statistics for highly complex projects.
- Extensive knowledge of applying cutting edge statistical methods; expert understanding of the drug development process.
- Record of successful implementation of novel methods and/ or innovative strategies in drug development.
- Ability to recognize opportunities where machine learning, computer science and new technologies add value.
- Significant experience in Health Authority activities.
- Experience of leveraging and maximizing the contributions of diverse teams.
