Within our ground-breaking Radioligand Therapy Labs in our Oncology division we have ambitions to transform the lives of millions of people living with cancer and focus in powerful new technologies that have the potential to help produce therapeutic breakthroughs for patients. The Oncology Research department at Novartis Institutes for Biomedical Research is recruiting for a Ph.D. level Principal Scientist with a strong background and track record in cancer cell biology. Expertise in the field of radioligand therapy development and/or radiobiology would be desirable.

About the Role

The candidate will join an Oncology Drug Discovery Research group located in Basel/Switzerland and will be responsible to lead projects in the areas of oncology drug discovery and radioisotope-based therapies. This is an excellent opportunity to join a world class research team at NIBR in Basel, Switzerland.

The successful candidate exhibits strong leadership skills, a collaborative team spirit, excellent communication skills and willingness to pro-actively interact across the global organization. Excellent mentoring and coaching skills will be a necessary asset to develop team members scientifically and professionally.

Your responsibilities will include:

· Design and manage in vivo studies to support the preclinical evaluation of novel radioligand therapies (efficacy, biodistribution, PET/SPECT imaging and MoA studies)

· Collaborate with cross-functional project teams (chemistry, clinical, safety, pathology etc) to advance novel radioligand therapies to the clinic.

· Work effectively with CROs and academic institutes.

· Guide, supervise and develop team members across functions.

· Present concepts and projects in a clear, scientifically sound and data-driven, objective manner in different settings and venues.

· Work closely with multiple teams across expertise groups within Oncology and across departments in the global organization (e.g. BD&L, Global Drug Development, Commercial).

What will you bring to the role:

• Ph.D. in pharmacology and/or cell biology with a minimum of 3 years additional experience in biomedical research (either industry or academia).

• Strong background in cancer biology and a track record of scientific accomplishment at high standards.

• Considerable experience performing and managing in vivo oncology studies (efficacy, PK/PD, ex vivo analysis by flow cytometry, IF/IHC, RNA Seq etc).

• Highly collaborative team player that enjoys working across multi-disciplinary team.

• Background in radioligand therapy development/radiobiology is highly desirable • Strong experience in drug development would be favorable.

• Excellent communication and presentation skills in English.

• Self-motivated, proactive, and able to work independently.

* This position is eligible for 80-100%* working time, however, some restrictions on flexible working options may apply and will be discussed during interview if applicable.
