About the Role:
The Oncology Department at Novartis Biomedical Research is currently hiring a motivated scientist to join our Target Biology and Discovery (TBaD) group in Cambridge, MA. As a Senior Scientist, you will primarily work at the bench and play a crucial role in advancing our understanding of disease biology, by contributing to target identification and validation efforts as well as working towards the discovery and optimization of new drugs in the field of oncology and immuno-oncology.
About the Role
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct target identification, validation, and mechanism-of-action projects using various molecular and cellular techniques, such as CRISPR, shRNA, Western blot, flow cytometry, and cellular phenotype interrogation.
- Design, develop, and perform assays for drug discovery, including characterizing small and large compounds using various assays in cancer cell line models.
- Analyze, document, and interpret experimental data.
- Collaborate effectively in a matrixed environment.
- Maintain good laboratory practices for data recording and documentation.
- Present research results in both group and project meetings.
Novartis Compensation and Benefit Summary: The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between $102,400 - $153,600/year; however, while salary ranges are effective from 1/1/24 through 12/31/24, fluctuations in the job market may necessitate adjustments to pay ranges during this period. Further, final pay determinations will depend on various factors, including, but not limited to geographical location, experience level, knowledge, skills, and abilities. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a sign-on bonus, restricted stock units, and discretionary awards in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment. If hired, employee will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
Essential Requirements
- This position will be located at the Cambridge, MA site and will not have the ability to be located remotely. This position will not require travel.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Biology or relevant field
- Minimum 5+ years of post-Bachelor Degree experience working in a cancer biology lab in academia or industry
- Strong skills in generating, analyzing, and presenting scientific data.
- Flexible and eager to learn, with an ability to quickly adapt to new techniques and apply them to your work.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Desirable Requirements
- Proficiency in various molecular and cellular techniques, such CRIPSR, shRNA, flow cytometry, and engineering of different cancer cell line models strongly preferred.
- Prior experience in target protein degradation, oncology, or immune-oncology research preferred.
- Previous industry experience preferred.
