Summary

Location: East Hanover Responsible for managing and negotiating site budgets and clinical trial agreements for Novartis clinical trials.

About the Role

Your Key Responsibilities:

  • Independently negotiate and execute Master Agreements, Clinical Trial Agreements,
    Confidentiality Agreements, complex amendments, budgets, and pre-negotiated rate
    card
  • Assist Contract Managers in the resolution of stalled process and/or negotiations
    with investigator site in support of clinical trial agreed timelines.
  • Advise and manage CRO on all contract & budget activities for outsourced trials to
    ensure compliance with Novartis’ process, requirement, system and strategies.
  • Establish and maintain strong working relationship with Novartis’ internal
    stakeholders (e.g. Legal, Patent, Risk Management, Regulatory, QA, Privacy, Clinical,
    SciComm, etc.) and investigational sites to efficiently & expeditiously execute
    contract.
  • Identify and partner with stakeholders that are globally & locally located to
    efficiently resolve any impasses.
  • Provide guidance and knowledge base of grant plan analysis and FMV evaluations in
    support of development and finalization of study budget with US/Global clinical
    team.
  • Identify, research and lead initiative for innovation & resolution of contractual
    trends/issue.
  • Identify, mitigate and present business risks & assessment for stakeholder’s
    approval.
  • Collaborate with clinical trial teams, study start up groups, investigational sites, and vendors to verify and develop budget and negotiate cost savings.

Role Requirements:

  • Degree in business administration, legal, finance, science, or related field
  • Legal expertise in corporate/contracting area
  • Five+ years of experience serving in a contract management role.
  • High level of organizational skills; ability to prioritize; high level analytical and team management skills.
  • Knowledge of pharmaceutical industry and applicable US privacy laws
  • Computer literacy with document and spreadsheet applications
  • Ability to work on complex, multi-faceted projects.
  • Superior negotiation skills and knowledge of clinical trial agreements
  • Strong capability in working in a matrixed environment.
  • Excellent communication and strong interpersonal, negotiation and conflict
    resolution skills

Novartis Compensation and Benefit Summary: The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between $97,600- $146,400/year; however, while salary ranges are effective from 1/1/24 through 12/31/24, fluctuations in the job market may necessitate adjustments to pay ranges during this period.  Further, final pay determinations will depend on various factors, including, but not limited to geographical location, experience level, knowledge, skills, and abilities. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a sign-on bonus, restricted stock units, and discretionary awards in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment. If hired, employee will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
