Novartis provides funding opportunities for the general purposes of supporting healthcare initiatives from scientific and charitable organisations that directly support patients, improve healthcare and enable ongoing education that are aligned to our Therapeutic Areas:

A grant is an independently requested monetary contribution for a specified purpose to support medical/scientific research, healthcare education, policy initiatives, and patient advocacy/engagement activities where Novartis will receive no improper benefit.
The applicant will be responsible for the application, content and implementation of any activity that receives Novartis support, including compliance with laws and regulations.
Eligibility
- Grants can be provided to registered medical, scientific, charitable and healthcare organisations, and patient associations
- Novartis does not provide funding directly to an individual or for an individual’s activities
- Grants will not be provided to political parties
- Grants cannot fund expenses already incurred by the recipient
- Grants cannot be provided to underwrite a commercial business, generate income, offset normal operating expenses or pay for an employee’s salary in part or full.

- Applications must outline a clear and defined purpose and transparent objectives, deliverables, milestones and outcomes as appropriate.

Assessment of grant applications
- Once received, each request will be reviewed carefully and fairly by the appropriate Novartis experts with every effort made to provide a response once we have all the necessary information.
- Requests are assessed on the value to patients, healthcare, the advancement of medical and scientific knowledge and / or community impact.
- Please note that approval of funding requests may take up to three months. Novartis will consult with the appropriate stakeholders when making its funding decisions and work within the policies and guidelines of Novartis and the Medicines Australia Code of Conduct or Medicines New Zealand Code of Practice.
- Novartis’ decision on what will and will not be funded is final. Novartis receives many funding requests each year and is unable to support all requests. All funding decisions will be subject to funds available and grant recipients meeting their obligations.
Approved grants
- All approved grants will be subject to a funding agreement which stipulates the terms of funding, including the grant amount, funding period, project scope, payment schedule and project reporting requirements.
Grant recipients are expected to report on the outcomes achieved and how the activity supported advances in health and medical research or improvements to patient care and experience.
