Private Prescription Program

The Private Prescription Program is an e-script solution. Once a person has been prescribed a Novartis medicine by their doctor for a non-PBS reimbursed on-label indication, they will be able to have it fulfilled by a participating pharmacy Australia-wide.

Government funded medicines

The Government funds medicines via the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme (PBS). Under the PBS, the government subsidises the cost of medicine for most medical conditions. Most of the listed medicines are dispensed by pharmacists and used by patients at home. Some medicines need medical supervision to be administered safely (such as oncology medicines) and are only accessible at specialised medical services, usually hospitals.
