Summary
As the Radiation Safety Lead, you will be responsible for all compliance activities related to Radiation Safety and for implementing programs to accomplish Novartis and local regulations and policies. You will be a member of the Indianapolis HSE Team and report directly into the HSE Campus Head.
About the Role
Key Responsibilities:
- Function as the Site Radiation Safety subject matter expert and collaborate with operations and technical teams to safely manage radioactive materials from raw materials to finished product and waste disposal.
- Manage the implementation and execution of the Radiation Safety roadmap defined by Novartis, working closely with all functions within the site and the broader Novartis organization.
- Maintain knowledge of and ensure adherence to all regulatory compliance standards applicable to the site and Company including Radiation Safety, Governance, Business Continuity & Emergency Management and Environmental Health and Safety
- Maintain a work environment that protects employees from radiation exposure. Maintain radiation safety program (personal monitoring program, maintain equipment monitoring and training requirements).
- Ensure that environmental program for radiation waste is maintained according to the EPA/NRC regulations.
Essential Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in industrial hygiene, health and safety, engineering, or related field or a minimum of 4 additional years of relevant experience.
- 5 years of relevant experience in a Health and Safety role, including at least 2 years of Radiation Safety experience.
- Experience building an injury and error-free culture with advanced knowledge of multiple US compliance areas (EPA, OSHA, NRC, etc.) is required.
Desirable Requirements:
- Experience in a cGMP environment is preferred.
- Certification or training in radiation safety is also preferred.
