About the Role

Key Responsibilities

· Strategic Project Leadership: Lead projects on major products and key markets, enhancing outcomes and financial returns. Develop and implement project management programs to ensure compliance with Novartis' standards, procedures and guidelines. Provide direction and advocacy for Novartis programs to key stakeholders. Stay updated on industry trends and adapt strategies accordingly.

· Collaborative Engagement: Partner with business leaders, P&O (People & Organization), and other functional colleagues to address development challenges and opportunities in line with Novartis' strategy.

· Project/Program Oversight: Manage project planning, communication, risk assessment, and resource allocation. Lead workstreams independently and provide strategic insights for leadership decisions.

· Subject Matter Expertise: Serve as an expert within the project team, building a network of internal subject matter experts, and acting as a sparring partner.

· Negotiation and Vendor Management: Exhibit excellent negotiation skills and manage vendor relationships. Oversee recruitment and management of external consultants.

· Capability Building: Develop leadership programs and expand capabilities among peers.

· Workforce Development: Lead recruitment and orientation of project personnel.

Core Skills Required

· Leadership & Team Guidance: Provide continuous leadership focused on outcomes, engage in coaching, and motivate teams. Serve as a servant leader to empower and motivate the team to achieve their objectives.

· Senior Stakeholder Engagement: Anticipate stakeholder needs, lead projects with minimal supervision, and build trusted advisor relationships.

· Consulting Practice Development: Understand client issues, create value, and lead internal practice innovations. Uphold and promote our company and consulting team values, ethics, and quality standards.

· Project/Program Management & Advisory: Offer advice, monitoring, and advocacy for Novartis projects/programs to key stakeholders, program leads, and senior leadership. Implement and manage governance frameworks for portfolios, programs, and projects, developing reporting tools that deliver value. Establish organization-wide program reporting focused on valuable advice and the early identification and resolution of risks and issues.

· Coaching & People Management: Coach and mentor project sponsors and managers, enhancing templates and checklists for improved project management. Lead colleagues within Program Management & PMO, developing them to support programs across Novartis, and mentor other Program Managers and Project Managers.

Main Requirements

· Education: Bachelor's degree in Science, Engineering, or IT, complemented by an MBA.

· Language: Fluent in English.

· Over 12 years in Program/Project Management, major change initiatives, and financial management.

· Soft Skills: Excellent communication and soft skills for engaging senior stakeholders. Critical thinking.

· Industry Exposure/Business Acumen: Knowledge of global business trends. Experience in Agile environments.

Desirable Requirements

· Certifications: PMP/PRINCE2 certification.

· Industry Knowledge: Experience in the pharmaceutical industry is beneficial.
