This position can be based remotely anywhere in the U.S. (there may be some restrictions based on legal entity). Please note that this role would not provide relocation as a result. The expectation of working hours and travel (domestic and/or international) will be defined by the hiring manager. This position will require 30% travel.

About the Role

The Director of In-Person Promotion Skills will be responsible for developing the learning strategy and leading a training team which supports skill development for field-based associates in the Customer Engagement (CE) organization.  The team develops and/or contributes to the curriculum for clinical selling/differentiation, problem solving, account-based selling/execution, access navigation, and ecosystem navigation capabilities.  In this role, strategic partnerships are created across the organization to provide end-to-end learning opportunities from design, development, implementation, pull-through, and measurement. The Director also serves on the CES leadership team and works cross-functionally to identify & optimize critical sales capabilities that facilitate best in class execution by the CE field organization.

Major accountabilities:

  • Responsible for identifying and managing aligned capability training needs, developing strategy, and designing, implementing, and evaluating training that facilitates development and continuous learning for associates.

  • Provide coaching, development, and supervision for direct reports; allocate responsibilities in proportion to business needs.

  • Strategically partner with CE leadership to define and set parameters for achieving strategic and shared goals. Anticipate potential barriers to achievement of goals and create solutions.

  • Constantly evaluate customer environment, core capabilities, market potential, and financial returns to create approaches and methodologies to succeed in evolving and complex selling environment.

  • Provide oversight to training of various skill-based dimensions such as:

    • Capability-based needs (Clinical-Selling/Differentiation, Problem Solving, Account Based Selling/Execution, Access Navigation, Ecosystem Navigation)

    • Products / Launch / Events (national and regional meetings)

    • Process (compliance, technology etc)

  • Anticipate, attract, and build the future skills and knowledge requirements of the organization through effective talent management strategies.

  • Ensure team works well cross-functionally with other departments and aligns to organizational strategies and objectives.

  • Support digital transformation training initiatives to ensure seamless integration of new processes and systems aligned to company requirements.

  • Maintain and allocate budgets for department programming and initiatives; collaborate with CES Leadership Team to appropriately resource training needs across the team.

  • Manage training vendors, as needed, to assist in the creation of needed learning content and resources.

  • Stay attuned to latest learning methods, trends, technologies to maintain a competitive advantage.

  • Applies appropriate review processes and policies (MAP, ERC, Legal) to content/resource development and deployment.

The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between $201,600.00 and $302,400.00 per year; however, while salary ranges are effective from 1/1/24 through 12/31/24, fluctuations in the job market may necessitate adjustments to pay ranges during this period. Further, final pay determinations will depend on various factors, including, but not limited to geographical location, experience level, knowledge, skills and abilities. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a sign-on bonus, restricted stock units, and discretionary awards in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment. If hired, employee will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.

What you’ll bring to the role:

  • A minimum of seven plus years of pharmaceutical experience with increasing responsibilities (including training leadership or sales leadership) or progressively responsible experience in leading a Commercial/Sales Training/Learning organization.

  • People management experience with direct reporting relationships

  • Experience designing and developing sales training programs and curriculum

  •  ​Ability and extensive experience coaching others to achieve desired objectives

  • Demonstrated success as an innovator with proven track record of leading ideas from concept to execution

  • Demonstrated leadership skills; decision maker, effective problem solver; strategic thinker.

  • Demonstrated ability to synthesize information to develop recommendations, and ability to persuade / influence organization pursuit of recommended path

  • Executive presence, ability to influence cross functional, sales, and franchise partners and all levels of management, including senior leadership

  • Business strategy, tactics understanding

  • Facilitation and platform skills

  • Knowledge of adult learning principles and instructional design

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and consistently meet deadlines

  • Adept at change management; leading others through change and transformation

  • Demonstrated ability to adapt to rapidly changing business needs and requirements

  • Experience working through ambiguous circumstances
