Location: Kundl, Austria TYPE: Hybrid Working #LI Hybrid This role will focus on the planning, performing and documentation of several activities related to Downstream Processing (DSP) of bio-molecules (Nucleic Acids and Proteins) with focus on the enhancement of automation, digital documentation and data connection

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced technician or junior scientist with strong experience in lab automation and/or digitalization as well as initial experience in coordinating and planning bioprocess development activities for and with a lab team.

Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Contribute to maintenance and investments of lab instruments and infrastructure
  • Drive digitalization and lab automation activities, e.g. by evaluating, testing and implementing new digital tools and equipment
  • Independently plan, execute and interpret downstream process experiments in lab- and pilot-scale
  • Drive continuous improvement activities of lab and pilot scale procedures and workflows
  • Author and review technical documents (e.g. protocols, scientific reports or lab procedures) based on templates or SOPs under minimal supervision
  • Actively foster knowledge exchange.
  • Participate in DSP development sub teams and fulfil assigned project tasks and responsibilities under supervision
  • Ensure the required level of compliance and data integrity in our development labs according to current Novartis quality guidelines (qualification of equipment, trainings, raw data documentation and management

What you’ll bring to the role:

  • Education / Experience: Professional education as a technician (chemistry, biotechnology, process engineering or equivalent) with min. 6 years of experience in a related field or a university degree (MSc or BSc) in life sciences or engineering (biotechnology, bioprocess engineering, or equivalent) with min. 2 years of experience in a related field.
  • Languages: German (fluent) and English (good command)
  • Technical knowledge: Detailed understanding of bioprocess engineering principles and unit operations.
  • Experience with setting up lab automation procedures and electronic documentation systems would be highly preferable or at least a strong curiosity about this field
  • Knowledge and experience in the implementation of digital tools is crucial.
  • Strong Quality mindset

In addition to a market-competitive base salary, we offer an attractive incentive program, a modern company pension scheme, childcare facilities, learning and development opportunities as well as worldwide career possibilities within the Novartis group. In accordance with Austrian law, we are obliged to disclose the minimum salary as stated in the collective bargaining agreement. For this position the minimum salary is €52,300 per year (on a full-time basis). The actual salary will be significantly higher, as we strive to maintain a competitive position in the market and consider your previous experience, qualifications and individual competencies.

We are open for part-time and job-sharing models and support flexible and remote working where possible.
