Reports to ED, Geopolicy, Trade and Competitiveness
About the Role
Key Responsibilities:
- Identify key geopolitical trends and developments for the life sciences industry and from a cross-industry lens in key NVS geographies.
- Monitor policy environment and emerging policy trends on life science competitiveness.
- Conduct structured & predictive policy horizon scanning to anticipate future developments in geopolicy and trade policy areas with impactful implications for NVS.
- Evaluate risks and opportunities in the international trade policy landscape to inform strategic and data-driven decision-making.
- Manage predictive, data-driven monitoring framework for tracking and assessing geopolitical risks impacting Novartis, aimed towards facilitating informed decision-making and risk mitigation.
- Provide expertise and knowledge on global trade policy, macroeconomic work on life sciences and industrial competitiveness.
- Derive actionable, data-driven recommendations and shape policy positioning to enhance industrial competitiveness of life sciences sector.
- Shape policy positioning around security of supply, shortages and related industrial policy topics
- Represent NVS in key trade association working groups, focused on industrial policy, trade, and competitiveness
What you’ll bring to the role:
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA
- Strong combined experience across health or trade policy, strategy, management consulting and/or related field.
- Experience assessing trade policies and agreements, with an understanding of implications on the life sciences industry.
- Experience relevant to one or more key geographies across US, EU, Japan and/or China.
- Proven ability to analyse macroeconomic trends and their impact on industry competitiveness to inform strategic decision-making and shape policy and advocacy efforts.
- Predictive analytical skills, ability to assess external trends and developments and synthesize concepts and ideas.
- Ability to prepare senior management presentations and briefings, to synthesize information from multiple sources and integrate into a compelling narrative
- Strategic thinker with understanding of strategic planning and enterprise decision-making processes
- External orientation, with a strong external network and excellent interpersonal and partnering skills with excellent Business and organizational awareness, enterprise perspective. Ability to collaborate and work effectively in a global matrix organization
- Fluent In English
DESIRABLE CRITERIA:
- Master’s degree in Regulatory Affairs, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Health Policy, or related field
