Summary

Location: Basel, Switzerland Hybrid Accountable for defining the sourcing and supply strategy for non-Novartis commercial drugs used in clinical trials across the Global Clinical Supply (GCS). The Strategic Comparator sourcing and Supply Lead defines standard processes while managing the external supplier relationship management. The role is pivotal in ensuring the availability, quality, and compliance of comparator drugs at most optimal material costs to support successful clinical trial execution.

About the Role

Key Responsibilities:
• Define and implement governance needed to oversee for the execution of the sourcing strategy for non-Novartis commercial products used in clinical trials, as aligned with the external partners.
• Manage relationships with suppliers of comparator in collaboration with procurement to ensure most optimal terms are negotiated and maintain full oversight of the partner’s performance, focused on ensuring reliable material supply and quality.
• Maintaining a budget oversight, ensuring that the product strategy is focused toward optimizing costs while maintaining quality and compliance.
• Work closely with e.g. vendors, clinical partners, and supply chain teams to ensure that the product sourcing strategy is in line with trial timelines and regulatory requirements. Evaluate and mitigate risks associated with product sourcing, ensuring continuity of supply for clinical trials.
• Has full portfolio oversight and is accountable for the overall comparator and open label non-Novartis commercial products sourcing strategy and delivery, in partnership with the external vendors and clinical supply leadership.
• In collaboration with the external partners drives for the best approaches, standardization and optimization of comparator sourcing and planning processes.
• Ensures effective customer and collaborator management, especially focused on collaboration with procurement, finance, and clinical operations.
• Ownership of comparator management capabilities within the organization and accountable for enabling continuous improvement and/or expansion of existing capabilities.

Essential Requirements
• Advanced degree in science, engineering, or related (PhD, MBA or equivalent)
• Fluent in English, German desired
• Over 7 years of practical experience in chemical / pharmaceutical industry or in the field of vendor management related to clinical supply
• Significant experience in clinical supply chain planning or clinical operations is strongly preferred.
• Vendor Negotiation and Supplier Relationship Management
• Very good knowledge about the Drug Development and Clinical Supply processes
• Solid knowledge of relevant regulations (e.g. GMP, HSE etc.) and Novartis specific standards.

• Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills. Ability to work in interdisciplinary and cross-cultural teams.
