As Head of US Public Affairs, Courtney leads strategy and execution of federal and state government affairs, public policy, and issue advocacy activities for Novartis in the US. As US Country President, Courtney represents the interests of Novartis to the US government and other external stakeholders and ensures coordination between Innovative Medicines and other Novartis organizational units operating in the US. In that capacity, she serves as Chair of the Board of Novartis Corporation, the Novartis Patient Assistance Foundation, the Novartis US Foundation, and the Novartis Political Action Committee.
Prior to joining Novartis in 2019, Courtney served as Vice President, Federal Government Affairs at AbbVie. Before that, she was head of the global health care practice at APCO Worldwide, a public affairs consulting firm headquartered in Washington, DC. Prior to joining APCO, Courtney also held positions in public policy at Pfizer and Wyeth.
Courtney holds a B.A. from Dickinson College and an M.A. in public policy from the University of Pittsburgh. She resides in Washington, DC with her husband Steve and sons Owen and William.
