Novartis Technical Operations (NTO) is the manufacturing division of Novartis. How do we aim to do it?

We in NTO play a critical role in enabling the company’s mission to reimagine medicine by providing the manufacturing technology that enables breakthrough medical innovation to deliver our medicines to patients. As Novartis continues to evolve, we are fundamentally transforming the way we work to match our capacity and capabilities to the changing demands of the product portfolio. Building on our strengths, we are re-imagining manufacturing and supply to continue to serve our patients and the business sustainably now and in the years to come.

As one of the largest divisions within Novartis, we take necessary actions to overcome headwinds via standardization, creating more value through our supplier relationships, network transformation / synergies and data & technology. NTO Platforms:

5 integrated Manufacturing and Supply units with end-to-end responsibility for manufacturing, internal & external supply.

Large Molecules Platform

The creation of the Large Molecules Platform represents the next step in the evolution of NTO’s platform structure, based on synergies and interlinks between the Biotech Drug Substance sites (comprising management of cell banks, upstream and downstream processes) and Drug Product sites (that include formulation, filling under aseptic conditions and packaging).

Small Molecules Platform

This platform aims to optimize and further enhance the end-to-end supply of small molecules innovative medicines products to become a top class customer service center and reliable partner to our customers and patients.

Cell & Gene Therapy Platform

The Cell and Gene Therapy Platform mission is to deliver timely access to cost-effective, quality, innovative medicines which improve and extend patient lives.

Local Market Manufacturing

The platform is focused on manufacturing and supplying affordable medicines locally to patients and customers in their respective countries.

3 years, 4 sites, 3 production platforms. Having started as a trainee, I have since moved into a position which is central to our production organization where I am able to improve and stabilize processes by working closely with colleagues across different functions.
