Summary

-Performs qualitative and quantitative analyses of organic, inorganic compounds, or biologics to determine chemical and physical properties during chemical syntheses, fermentation or drug product development process by verifying their identity, purity, and homogeneity. Ascertains relationships between molecular structure and physical or biological properties to aid in analysis of compounds and molecules. Conducts research to develop or improve analytical techniques, methodology, procedures, and investigates application of instruments in analysis. Organizes and interprets all data obtained using a wide variety of instrumental technologies. Provides technical support to run the mass spectrometry suite. Conducts experimental design before use of mass spectrometry, assists in the analysis and presentation of results. Provides quality control specifications to ensure process consistency, quality and optimal yield performance. Conducts measurements of compounds in biological environments and fluids. May also investigate dosage forms of the new drugs or biological molecules to verify their identity, potency, and pharmaceutical or biological properties. About the Role

Major accountabilities:

  • Generates hypotheses, independently executes experiments, and uses results to assist in the design of the next experiment.
  • Recognizes problems and provides input on solutions; suggests new approaches to established procedures to progress key drug discovery, technology, and/or early development projects.
  • Research Scientist I:Implements experimental steps and existing lab techniques according to established laboratory protocols with daily input from senior lab members/manager.
  • Provides basic data analysis: report experimental hypothesis, experimental details, summation of raw data, graphs and statistical analysis.
  • Senior level support staff involved in clinical/ research activities may also be mapped here.
  • Works collaboratively across lab with all members.
  • Expected to be an excellent lab citizen.
  • Uses understanding of experimental hypothesis and works with manager and colleagues to troubleshoot issues and help design and execute next experiment.
  • Experimental results support progression of drug discovery, technology, and/or early development projects.
  • Reporting of technical complaints / adverse events / special case scenarios related to Novartis products within 24 hours of receipt -Distribution of marketing samples (where applicable)
