Role Purpose:
Chemical & Analytical Development (CHAD) plays an essential role in the development of processes for manufacturing and analysis. We are looking for an experienced new colleague with a strong background in analytical chemistry and good communication skills. You will take a leading role defining ways of working with external partners.

About the Role

Role Responsibilities:

With your strong expertise in analytical development, you take a leading role in supporting analytical control strategies and standards for externalized Drug Substance manufacturing activities (incl. starting materials, intermediates, in-process-control)

• Further, you will support coordination of cGMP related activities at our partners to ensure externalized manufacture under cGMP in a timely and straight forward manner

As a core member of a cross-functional team, you collaborate closely with our internal and external partners to ensure delivery of new drugs to our patients

Further, you will support and guide external partners providing relevant process documentation in support of dossier filing

In this role you also actively participate in scientific exchange groups within Novartis as well as maintaining excellent collaborations with our customers and external partners

What you’ll bring to the team:

• Scientific curiosity coupled with recognized achievements in the development of analytical methods using advanced detection technologies (e.g. UHPLC, GC, SFC and related hyphenated techniques including high resolution MS)

Dedicated, thoughtful and flexible team working skills

Strong communication and presentation skills allowing guidance in a scientific sound and compliant way of working towards analytical chemistry teams at external partners

Good knowledge of English (oral and written) is required, good command of German (spoken/ written) is desirable

Excellent knowledge of laboratory and/or technical tools

Good knowledge of analytical software and computer tools such as Office package

Desirable Requirements:

We are looking for candidates with PhD in analytical chemistry

• Documented and relevant hands-on experience in characterization and release activities for starting materials, intermediates etc. related to small molecule Drug Substances

• A minimum of 3-5 years relevant professional experience in field of analytical development with a strong GMP background is required, preferably in drug substance development
