About the role:

The Senior Accounting Specialist will be responsible for general ledger activities of Swiss Pharma entities which includes monthly closing and reporting activities.
Provide accounting and closing skills to ensure accurate accounts and timely reporting. Ensure high quality of financial data and guarantee compliance to Group and management reporting standards as well as statutory requirements.
Business partner for various groups of users within the Novartis Group with a clear customer focus as well as Subject Matter Expert (SME) for related policies and processes, supporting productivity objectives and continuous improvements
Main activities are the support of daily activities, the Financial Reporting in FCRS, the statutory closing preparation and analytical tasks in relation to financial reporting processes


Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

       Ensure the operational conversion of the Finance strategic goals within a dedicated area of the business & supervise the performance and development of a small team of FSC specialists.

       Ensures the integrity, viability, and interoperability of financial reporting processes and systems, including tax, inventory, corporate controls, and payment and purchasing data.

       Manage and operate the basic reporting processes for actuals to agreed quality in line with laws and Novartis required standards in fast close timeline.

       Maintain accurate and timely fixed asset information in the fixed asset register including assets under construction and depreciation calculations.

       Provide financial accounting services and data in a timely and accurate manner, including fixed assets and divestment activities; ensures appropriate information is provided to relevant individuals and external bodies.

·       Leads and manages the balance sheet account reconciliations of allocated accounts and ensures timely resolution and cleans of overdue items identified.

       Manage and automate the provision of routine information to local users from SAP and BW, and perform ‘super user’ responsibilities for Finance and Controlling modules in SAP.

       Interacts proactively with respective functional areas of the FSC and NOCC to ensure appropriate accounting, financial reporting and settlement of revenue matters is accomplished.

Role Requirements :

Essential Requirements:

·       Several years of financial experience, with in-depth functional expertise.

·       Previous experience in managing financial shared services

·       SAP knowledge

Skills:

       Compliance And Controls.

      Critical Thinking.

    Financial Accounting.

      Financial And Management Reporting.

Languages :

       English.

       Other languages are a plus.


Desirable Requirements:
• Ideally country and/or regional experience within the Novartis
• Strong analytical skills (applicable to financial analyses and process, governance & organizational design)
• Strong project management skills; project management certification (PMP, etc.) is an asset / Good communication
