Summary

The Network Specialist will play a critical role within our global healthcare company, focusing on the design, implementation, and maintenance of WAN and LAN infrastructure. This position is project-based, providing dynamic and challenging opportunities to work on various networking initiatives that enhance and support our global operations. The Network Specialist will ensure seamless connectivity and robust network performance, contributing to the overall efficiency and security of our healthcare services. This role requires a proactive, detail-oriented professional with a strong technical background and the ability to adapt to evolving project demands and technological advancements.

About the Role

MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Design, implement and maintain LAN and WAN networks.

• Configure and maintain routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers and other networking equipment.

• Provide technical support and troubleshooting for network-related issues.

• Perform network monitoring and capacity planning to ensure optimal network performance.

• Collaborate with other IT teams to ensure seamless integration of network infrastructure with other systems.

• Develop and maintain documentation related to network infrastructure and operations.

• Participate in network security initiatives and ensure compliance with security policies.

• Keep up to date with industry developments and best practices related to networking.

KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS / MEASURES OF SUCCESS

Project Delivery: network projects completed on time and within budget.

Network Performance: Meet or exceed performance benchmarks for network speed and reliability.

Security Compliance: 100% compliance with internal security policies and external regulatory requirements.

User Satisfaction: Achieve high satisfaction based on the feedback and surveys related to network services and support.

Change Management: network changes implemented without causing unplanned downtime or service disruption.

Documentation Accuracy: 100% accuracy and completeness of network documentation.

Training and Development: Complete at least 2 professional development courses or certifications per year.

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Knowledge of Cisco Network Associate (CCNA) or Cisco Network Professional (CCNP). (Certification not mandatory)

Continuous Learning:

Commitment to ongoing professional development through courses, workshops, and seminars to stay current with evolving technologies and industry standards.

EXPERIENCE

3+ Years of Professional Experience in Network Engineering: Proven track record in managing complex WAN and LAN infrastructure in a large-scale, global environment. Experience in SDWAN, SDAccess is beneficial.

Demonstrated experience in executing network-related projects, from initial planning through to successful completion, on time and within budget.

Extensive experience in diagnosing and resolving network issues efficiently, ensuring minimal disruption to business operations.

Experience in collaborating with external vendors and service providers to deliver high-quality network solutions and services.

Skilled in maintaining detailed network documentation and producing comprehensive reports on network performance, incidents, and project outcomes.

SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE

Connectivity:

In-depth knowledge of WAN and LAN technologies, including routing, switching, and wireless networking. Proficiency with networking hardware and software from leading vendors such as Cisco. Strong understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and other core network protocols, i.e. BGP, OSPF, etc.

Network Security:

Knowledge of network security measures, including firewalls, VPNs, Proxy, access control mechanisms.

Troubleshooting and Problem-Solving:

Excellent diagnostic skills for identifying and resolving complex network issues. Ability to perform root cause analysis and implement effective solutions to prevent recurrence.

Communication and Collaboration:

Effective verbal and written communication skills to convey technical information clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including IT, operations, and security, to achieve organizational goals.

Documentation and Reporting:

Skilled in creating and maintaining detailed network documentation, including network diagrams, configuration files, and standard operating procedures. Ability to produce comprehensive reports on network performance, incidents, and project outcomes for management review.

Continuous Learning and Adaptability:

Commitment to continuous professional development and staying current with emerging network technologies and industry best practices. Adaptability to evolving project requirements and technological advancements, with a proactive approach to learning and improvement.

Customer Service Orientation:

Strong focus on providing high-quality network support and ensuring user satisfaction. Ability to understand and address the networking needs of various departments within the organization.
