Summary

As one of four Solutions areas in Global Business Solutions, Business Transformations Solutions (BTS) provides internal consulting and PM/PMO services to the Novartis organization. The Principal Consultant is a Director-level role with responsibility for leading a team of internal consulting specialists to deliver global strategic programs, driving operational efficiencies, and implementing business changes.

About the Role

Major accountabilities:

  • Own the Enterprise Value:

    • Work with global functions, regional and country management in partnership with BTS Account leads to understand the opportunity pipeline and work to convert this into projects – in line with strategy, prioritization, and engagement management processes.

    • Develop/customize consulting tools and methodologies for delivering consulting project opportunities.

    • Find opportunities to expand management consulting service offerings by partnering with the business.

  • Own the human system:

    • Line management of local consulting teams, including Lead Consultants (direct reports), Senior Consultants, Consultants, and Associate Consultants.

    • Lead with our culture and ensure that your behavior role models our values of being Inspired, Unbossed, Curious, and having Integrity and actively champion and exhibit “one team” behaviors.

    • Lead / significantly contribute to BTS internal initiatives around People & Culture development, Knowledge management & Innovation (including Gen AI) and Operational Excellence.

  • Own the quality:

    • Ensure that the internal customer relationship is proactively managed, and the highest levels of customer satisfaction are maintained throughout the lifecycle of the project.

    • Demonstrate objectivity and highlight and resolve issues including having difficult conversations with stakeholders and associates.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree, preferably in science, engineering, business administration or economics.

  •  Minimum of 15 years' experience driving value in leading organizations, scoping, shaping, leading and delivering change and /or process improvement projects and programs in a Top 5 consulting firm or in an equivalent large corporate environment.

  • Significant experience leading and managing end-to-end project lifecycles including planning and driving all elements of project execution.

  • Proven track record of managing consulting teams (including virtual teams) and influencing senior stakeholders of widely varying backgrounds across a dispersed and matrixed organization.

  • Demonstrated competency in more than one core capability – program/project management, operating model design, change management, integrations & separations, launches or product management

  • Significant experience in Life Sciences, ideally in a consulting or equivalent role.

Desirable requirements:
 

  • Masters in a change related subject matter area as well as any additional certifications such as Lean Six Sigma, Agile, Change management, Enterprise Communications, Project management, Facilitation /Coaching, design thinking, ITIL.

  • Experience with Gen AI technologies – as a user and in enabling other clients to use them
